Pre-Appointment Check List

• All signers must appear physically before the notary, be coherent and provide acceptable identification at the time of the notarization.
• COMPLETELY FILL IN ALL BLANK SPACES IN DOCUMENT BEFORE NOTARY ARRIVES BUT DO NOT SIGN! We cannot Notarize incomplete documents!
• The name on the document must match the name on the ID. (What if I don’t have an ID or the name on my ID does not match name on the document?, click here)
• DO NOT SIGN document until you are in the presence of the notary.
• Original documents must be presented for all Copy Certification.
• Vital records (birth, death and marriage) cannot be notarized.
• Know which Notary Certificate you need. Notary cannot give advice on which one to use.

No ID or Name on ID does not match document? Use a Credible Witness.

Credible Witness

Definition: An individual who can verify the identity of a signer.
Requirements:

• Witness must appear personally at the time of notarization and be wiling to swear to signers identity by signing a credible witness affidavit.
• Witness must have proper ID
• The witness may not be a party to and/or have a financial interest in the transaction described in the document.
